About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Anesthesia /Critical Care is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit to provide specialty medical care within the Inpatient setting. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. Manages high-acuity, critically ill cardiac, post-operative cardiothoracic surgical, and mechanical circulatory device patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team including intensivist, advance heart failure, cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology teams. Patient population includes post-operative cardiac patients, heart and lung transplants, mechanical circulatory device patients including: IABP, LVAD, impella, VA and VV ECMO devices, advance heart failure, and cardiology patients. Demonstrate strong clinical competence; critical decision-making; confidence in ability to assess, diagnose, & treat critically ill patients; and manage all aspects of care from admission to transfer from the critical care service. Participate in daily rounds with the Attending Intensivist Physician team, presenting 24-hour patient report.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • DEA
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization - Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • DEA

Nice To Haves

  • Previous inpatient, acute care, & critical care PA, NP, or RN experience strongly preferred
