About The Position

Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is offering an opportunity for a full-time Pediatric CVICU APP. Join a high-performing, collaborative Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team where your expertise will make a life-saving difference every day. This role involves active clinical engagement throughout each shift, including standing, walking, and performing fine motor clinical procedures. The physical demands are typical of an inpatient hospital environment and require full mobility and stamina appropriate for extended clinical coverage. Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing in a recognized APRN specialty (Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or Nurse Practitioner) - OR - Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies from an accredited program. - OR - Appropriate equivalent degree and certification.
  • Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing. Current national certification in the area of specialization. Current BLS, ACLS or PALS Certification as indicated for the position DEA Certification. - OR - Current PA licensure with the Oregon Medical Board Current NCCPA Certification. Current BLS, ACLS or PALS Certification. DEA Certification.
  • Prior experience in Pediatric Critical Care.
  • Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Active Oregon Medical License
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients in an intensive care setting
  • Sound clinical judgment under pressure
  • Clear and compassionate communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to thrive in environments that require prioritization and decisive action
  • Comfortable managing multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously
  • Proficient with electronic medical records and clinical systems
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to the highest standards of clinical and ethical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care in a fast-paced PICU environment
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans
  • Manage acute and chronic critical illness
  • Interpret diagnostic studies and manage advanced therapies
  • Prescribe and adjust medications with thoughtful risk assessment
  • Provide anticipatory guidance to families and caregivers
  • Maintain thorough, timely EMR documentation
