About The Position

Responsible for the entire cutting room and shade mark area, focusing on quality, efficiency, safety, leadership, organization, and cost controls. This role involves managing fabric inventory, ensuring color uniformity, cutting goods accurately, documenting material usage, maintaining patterns, and improving production flow. The supervisor will also perform equipment maintenance, assist with new product research, utilize tablet-based production tracking, train new personnel, and maintain a clean work environment. The position also includes receiving raw materials and performing other necessary duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in supervisory and leadership roles required.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet department demands, including overtime.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
  • Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control inspections on all fabric as received.
  • Manage fabric inventory to ensure all received fabric is accounted for.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Manager on fabric shading issues for uniform color during production.
  • Cut goods as directed by the Manufacturing Manager, ensuring quality and accuracy of cuts.
  • Document and track material usage and rejected material.
  • Maintain and store hard patterns and markers in a safe place.
  • Communicate with the Cutting Room facilitator to improve production flow, increase fabric yield, minimize recuts, and create a workflow utilizing automated design and cutting equipment.
  • Spread material on the table using appropriate methods to ensure best yield and quality.
  • Inspect and monitor for fabric quality defects during the cutting operation.
  • Control scrap, rework, and regraded goods, identifying them to prevent entry into the production stream.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all cutting room equipment.
  • Inform the Manufacturing Manager when consumable items and repair parts are required.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Manager and VP of Manufacturing Operations and Business Development in the research, planning, and implementation of new products or projects.
  • Be trained on SOM App and be able to enter production on a tablet.
  • Train all new personnel to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Follow Agency attendance policy.
  • Follow Manufacturing Manager’s instructions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the cutting room area.
  • Responsible for receiving raw materials.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
