About The Position

Responsible for the entire cutting room and shade mark area, focusing on quality, efficiency, safety, leadership, organization, and cost controls. This role involves managing fabric inventory, addressing shading issues, ensuring accurate cutting, documenting material usage, maintaining patterns, and improving production flow with automated equipment. The supervisor will also perform quality inspections, control scrap, maintain cutting room equipment, and train new personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in supervisory and leadership roles required.
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department, i.e. overtime.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
  • Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment and plan and organize workload.
  • Accepts responsibility and demonstrates leadership.

  • Experience in needle trades cutting processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control inspections on all fabric as received.
  • Manage fabric inventory to ensure all received fabric is accounted for.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Manager on fabric shading issues to ensure uniform color during production.
  • Cut goods as directed by Manufacturing Manager ensuring quality of cuts to size.
  • Document and track material usage as well as rejected material.
  • Maintain and store hard patterns and markers in a safe place.
  • Communicate with the Cutting Room facilitator to improve production flow, increase fabric yield, minimize recuts, and create a work flow utilizing the automated design and cutting equipment.
  • Spread material on table, using appropriate methods to ensure best yield and quality.
  • Inspect and monitor for fabric quality defects during cutting operation.
  • Control scrap, rework, and regraded goods and identify so as not to enter production stream.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all cutting room equipment.
  • Inform the Manufacturing Manager when consumable items and repair parts are required.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Manager and VP of Manufacturing Operations and Business Development in the research, planning, and implementation of new products or projects.
  • Be trained on SOM App and be able to enter production on tablet.
  • Train all new personnel to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Follow Agency attendance policy.
  • Follow Manufacturing Manager’s instructions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the cutting room area.
  • Responsible for receiving raw materials.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary by management.
