About The Position

Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Cutoff Operator. This role involves working under general supervision to cut castings from gating using abrasive wheel and cutoff equipment. The operator will also be responsible for operating mill equipment to remove gating, and operating KOH low temps, water blast, knockout, and case blast equipment. Depending on business needs, the role may also include performing Power Pac/Shell Removal/Knockout and metal analyzer duties. The position requires continuous work to meet quality customer requirements with minimum inventory and functioning as a team member in a cell environment to optimize product flow. The operator will cut parts from gating using abrasive wheel cutting equipment, varying in complexity from manual to complex set-ups on fixtured cutting equipment.

Requirements

  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING NIGHT SHIFTS, 7:00 P.M TO 7:00 A.M. (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off)
  • Using Computers (entering information, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
  • Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
  • Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offer are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Responsibilities

  • Considerable care and attention required to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Cut parts from gating using abrasive wheel cutting equipment varying in complexity from total manual to complex set-ups on fixtured cutting equipment.
  • Ensures quality of castings.
  • Operates all cutting/shell removal equipment in department as assigned.
  • Keeps gating sorted, identified, and stored in proper alloy bin.
  • Performs semi-complex tasks and inspects results with standard gauges or devices.
  • Performs duties of Power Pac/Shell Removal/Knockout as required.
  • Operates mill equipment required to remove gating.
  • Verify lot travelers with castings to assure that all previous operations have been completed.
  • Keeps heats separated.
  • Selects and sets up fixtures for required task.
  • Informs supervisor of required maintenance.
  • Completes preventive maintenance as required.
  • Obtains and moves work as required.
  • Completes tasks per the PMS, Activity Instructions, Product Criteria or Temporary Instructions.
  • Depending on the business, the Cutoff operator can also be required to perform metal analyzer.
  • Complies with all EHS rules related to the work environment.
  • Performs other duties when required.
  • Works overtime when needed.
