The Cut-Off Operator is responsible for the set-up and operation of all cut-off machines according to established standards. A critical part of this role is verifying wire type by checking wire tags and color codes before commencing production. The operator must continuously monitor, measure, and visually inspect the output of all machines to ensure parts are within specified tolerances. Any non-conforming parts found must be reported to the supervisor for disposition. Daily preventative maintenance duties as defined by the supervisor are also required. The operator must promptly report all machine problems to the supervisor and maintain accurate records of production, work-in-process, scrap, and material usage. Cooperation with the Quality Assurance Technician and making necessary corrections to ensure quality parts are essential. Additionally, the operator must re-weigh wire when returning it to stock, ensure it is returned to the proper location, and cut large pieces or coils of scrap wire before disposal. Maintaining a clean work area and machines for the next shift is also a responsibility. Other duties may be assigned.
