About The Position

The Cut-Off Operator is responsible for the set-up and operation of all cut-off machines according to established standards. A critical part of this role is verifying wire type by checking wire tags and color codes before commencing production. The operator must continuously monitor, measure, and visually inspect the output of all machines to ensure parts are within specified tolerances. Any non-conforming parts found must be reported to the supervisor for disposition. Daily preventative maintenance duties as defined by the supervisor are also required. The operator must promptly report all machine problems to the supervisor and maintain accurate records of production, work-in-process, scrap, and material usage. Cooperation with the Quality Assurance Technician and making necessary corrections to ensure quality parts are essential. Additionally, the operator must re-weigh wire when returning it to stock, ensure it is returned to the proper location, and cut large pieces or coils of scrap wire before disposal. Maintaining a clean work area and machines for the next shift is also a responsibility. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Skill in re-weighing wire and returning it to the proper location.
  • Ability to cut scrap wire.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean work area and machines.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting any non-conforming parts found to the supervisor for disposition.
  • Completing daily preventative maintenance duties as defined by the supervisor.
  • Reporting all machine problems to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Keeping accurate and complete records of production, work-in-process, scrap, and material usage.
  • Cooperating with the Quality Assurance Technician and making corrections as warranted to assure quality parts.
  • Re-weighing wire when returning it to stock and assuring that it is returned to the proper location.
  • Cutting up large pieces or coils of scrap wire before putting it in the dumpster.
  • Assuring the machines and work area are clean for the next shift.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
