About The Position

DHL has an immediate opportunity for a qualified Customs Entry Agent. The role ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing imported products and their shipment, receipt, and documentation. It processes customs entries, computes tariffs and merchandise price conversions, and reviews invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays. The position also processes shipments through online portals for submission to the FDA and U.S. Customs to obtain proper clearance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, and web-based applications.
• Good oral and written communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• A courteous and clear telephone voice.
• Proficiency with a 10-key calculator.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations regarding Foreign Trade Agreements and other duty exemptions.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.
• One year of experience in transportation or customs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and directing the flow of traffic to and from foreign destinations.
• Classify dutiable import and export shipments to ensure compliance with government agency rules and regulations.
• Process requests for extensions, expirations, cancellations, and government entries.
• Communicate with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes.
• Apply for import/export permits and certificates of eligibility.
• Maintain communication with the department of foreign affairs.
• Receive and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence, as needed.
• Examine online commercial invoices and other documents to determine the correct Harmonized Tariff Code for each commodity.
• Process shipments through online portals for submission to the FDA and U.S. Customs to obtain proper clearance.
• Compute tariffs and price conversions for merchandise imported from foreign destinations.
• Review invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
