About The Position

This role involves working with tariff classifications for both import and export, maintaining HTS product code databases, and managing daily activities with brokerage companies. The specialist will monitor regulatory changes, maintain import procedures manuals, and take responsibility for the ACE account. Key duties include identifying and resolving issues hindering customs clearance, ensuring compliance with export regulations like EAR and ECCN, and advising sourcing teams on duty savings and compliance best practices. The position also involves managing documentation for audits and processing duty drawback/refund tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership and customers.
  • Using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, and OGA regulations: 2+ years
  • International business including Import / Export rules and regulations: 2+ years
  • Applying Schedule B and ECCN requirements for export shipments: 2+ Years
  • COMPUTER SKILLS - MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Outlook is the email client. Also use of Skype, teams and SharePoint navigation.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity: Certification of Customs Compliance.
  • Understanding rules and regulations involving EAR and ECCN, controls
  • Excellent knowledge of import / Export programs, including Free Trade Agreements (USMCA, AGOA), CFR Title 19, ACE and OGA regulations including overall knowledge of EAR and ECCN for exports shipments
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, PLEX system
  • Good analytical and database management skills
  • A self-starter, able to work in group sessions
  • have a United States Customs Broker License

Nice To Haves

  • prefer own CBLE.
  • Masters degree is preferred.
  • Preferred majors: International logistics.
  • Experience with a Global Trade Management (GTM) platform (i.e. ORACLE, QuestaWeb and Integration Point) and/or foreign trade zone (FTZ) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with tariff classifications (Import and Export) and maintain and update HTS product code databases, and other related information
  • Proactively monitor all daily activities with brokerage companies, Manage Customs record keeping requirements, Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and maintain import procedures manual.
  • Participate in team efforts to obtain proper tariff classification of products as well as guidance on use of materials regulated by OGA’s.
  • Work with our Customs Compliance team in business’s Customs inquiries, Identify and resolve issues hindering customs clearance, including exams and PGA holds.
  • Take responsibility for ACE account and related tasks.
  • Execute tariff classifications process for exports and verify compliance with EAR, ECCN and RESTRICTED PARTY SCREENING demands
  • Review SPECS sheets and other data provided (this includes interaction with sourcing teams) to ensure they are correct in order to assign an HTS
  • Assign tariff classifications to merchandise ready and completed for Import and Exports orders
  • Work with brokers on problem resolution related to filed entries, Assist in preparing periodic reporting
  • Responsible for all duty drawback/ PSC/ refund tasks.
  • Collect and keep the update of Customs’ Informed Compliance Publications
  • Advise Sourcing / Product Development teams on best practices to save duties and increase compliance rate by sharing Customs information on merchandise as it relates to the business units
