About The Position

This is a remote position that begins with 6 weeks of on-site training during the day, followed by a transition to an evening remote role. Candidates must reside within commuting distance to the UPS facility in Louisville, KY. This role offers the opportunity to build a career in international trade and customs compliance with a global logistics leader. After completing the initial on-site, instructor-led training, you will move into a fully remote position with prospects for advancement, skill development, and long-term stability. It is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, enjoy problem-solving, and wish to develop within an essential industry. As a Customs Brokerage Specialist II, your responsibilities will include reviewing import documentation, resolving discrepancies, classifying goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and ensuring shipments comply with federal regulatory requirements. You will also communicate directly with customers, carriers, and international partners to facilitate efficient and compliant freight movement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent
  • Basic understanding of U.S. customs operations, regulations, and government agencies
  • Strong computer skills and comfort with data entry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve documentation issues
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

  • Familiarity with HTS codes or tariff classification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customs entries accurately and on time
  • Review and audit commercial documents; identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Apply correct HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes for duty assessment
  • Communicate documentation needs with customers and foreign origins
  • Coordinate freight forwarding and delivery with domestic and international carriers
  • Submit customs entries via GBS-CM in a timely manner
  • Scan and upload documentation into internal imaging systems
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and database-driven analyses
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients through proactive, clear communication
  • Support weekend or holiday work on a rotational basis, as needed
