Customer Success Engineer, AtomEngine

Onebrief•Fort Belvoir, VA
•$135,000 - $180,000•Onsite

About The Position

Onebrief is hiring a Customer Success Engineer to deploy and support AtomEngine in real-world military training environments, including classified and air-gapped systems. The role combines hands-on engineering with customer engagement and mission execution. The engineer configures, extends, troubleshoots, and improves AtomEngine to meet operational requirements, and may support live exercises and adapt simulations under pressure. The position works onsite with customers at Fort Belvoir to understand operational needs, support deployments, and relay field observations to Product and Engineering. It also involves integrating AtomEngine with partner systems, resolving technical issues during high-visibility exercises, contributing to engineering improvements when not supporting exercises, and improving documentation and deployment processes. Occasional travel is required, including travel to other sites approximately 20% of the time.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, technical consulting, or another customer-facing engineering role involving hands-on development.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining production-quality software.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, Python, GDScript, or similar.
  • Experience troubleshooting software systems, integrations, networking, or distributed applications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while collaborating closely with customers and engineering teams.
  • Prior military experience and an Active Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite at Fort Belvoir daily and travel to other sites approximately 20% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience presenting or teaching technical concepts to large groups.
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, game engines, or defense-related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and support AtomEngine in live military training environments, including classified and air-gapped systems.
  • Use AtomEngine tooling and scripting to extend entities, features, behaviors, sensors, and operational scenarios to reflect real-world requirements.
  • Work onsite with customers at Fort Belvoir to understand operational needs, iterate alongside users, and ensure successful deployments.
  • Translate field observations and customer friction into actionable Product and Engineering feedback, providing military context and operational priorities.
  • Integrate AtomEngine with partner systems by configuring and troubleshooting APIs, networking, infrastructure dependencies, and system connectivity.
  • Resolve technical issues in real time during high-visibility exercises and implement fixes to ensure the software functions optimally for upcoming exercises.
  • Identify and implement improvements from the enhancement backlog, contributing to the engineering backlog alongside the Software Engineering team.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to military stakeholders, partners, and internal teams, including responding to challenging questions professionally.
  • Improve documentation, deployment processes, and operational repeatability to support scalable deployments and long-term customer success.
  • Travel occasionally to support customer engagements and operational exercises.
