The Science Analytics and Synthesis (SAS) program supports the USGS Libraries Program, providing a national capability to support the scientific research of the USGS, the geosciences community, and the public. The library's collection includes over 1,500,000 volumes, 500,000 maps, 30,000 field record files, and 500,000 historical photos. Library services offer comprehensive access to USGS publications and scientific, geographical, and historical collections in both print and electronic formats. Services include circulation, document delivery, interlibrary lending and borrowing, patron assistance, scientific records inventory, and digitization. Technical services involve processing and maintaining the library's collection through selection, acquisition, organization, cataloging, inventorying, preservation, and preparation for circulation. The library infrastructure includes an online catalog (ExLibris Alma), search and discovery tools (ExLibris Primo), the USGS Publications Warehouse, electronic subscriptions, literature search databases (Scopus, Web of Science, GeoRef), digitization services, and Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery via the OCLC network. This role seeks a qualified Customer Service Specialist with librarian skills to support the library's objectives by providing timely service for scientific materials and information delivery, and accessible electronic and archival collections to USGS scientists and the public. The candidate will perform functions and services to meet specified quality, schedule, and performance requirements.
