About The Position

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and providing assistance. They learn about products using company tools and share product information to help customers complete an entire project. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close customer interactions in their department, and handle basic needs in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure those areas are clean, shop-able, and safe. They are responsible for helping provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, promptly correcting hazards or reporting unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty, and working safely around coworkers, vendors, and customers. Associates work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other associates in their department and across other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Greet, qualify, recommend products or solutions, and close customer interactions in the assigned department.
• Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
• Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe.
• Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
• Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
• Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
• Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the assigned and other departments.
