About The Position
Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and providing assistance. They learn about products using company tools and provide information to customers to help sell an entire project. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close customers in their department, and to handle basic needs in adjacent departments. Associates maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure those areas are clean, shop-able, and safe. They help provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, correcting hazards and unsafe conditions immediately or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely to avoid endangering themselves, coworkers, vendors, or customers. They cooperate with their Department Supervisor and associates in their own and other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.
Responsibilities

- Greet, qualify, recommend products or solutions to, and close customers in the assigned department.
- Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
- Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe.
- Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
- Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
- Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
- Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the assigned and other departments.
