About The Position
Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers, assessing their needs, and providing assistance. They learn about products using company tools and share information with customers to help sell an entire project. Associates learn how to greet, qualify, recommend, and close every customer in their department, and how to handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments. Associates maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure they are clean, shop-able, and safe. They help provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, promptly correcting hazards and unsafe conditions or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely to avoid endangering themselves, coworkers, vendors, or customers. They work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and associates in their own and other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.
Responsibilities

- Greet, qualify, recommend products to, and close customers in the assigned department.
- Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
- Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure they are clean, shop-able, and safe.
- Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
- Correct hazards and unsafe conditions promptly or report them to the Manager on Duty.
- Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
- Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the same and other departments.
