Customer Service Representative
About The Position
Do you enjoy helping people while staying active throughout the day? U-Haul is looking for friendly, motivated individuals to join our team as Customer Service Representatives. This is more than a traditional retail position—you'll assist customers, inspect and prepare rental equipment, install hitches, and help ensure every customer has a safe and successful moving experience. As a Customer Service Representative, you'll work as part of a supportive team while gaining valuable customer service and technical skills. Every day is different, offering opportunities to learn, grow, and make a positive impact. No experience with trailers, hitches, propane, or forklifts is required—we provide paid training and certifications.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain a good driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable using smartphones and basic technology.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as business needs require.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service both inside and outside the U-Haul center.
- Assist customers with selecting, renting, and returning U-Haul equipment.
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
- Safely move, position, and connect U-Haul trucks and trailers.
- Inspect, clean, and prepare rental equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for the next customer.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance, including checking fluid levels and identifying equipment concerns.
- Answer customer questions and educate them on U-Haul products and services.
- Prepare rental contracts and process equipment returns.
- Install trailer hitches and wiring (paid training provided).
- Fill propane cylinders (certification provided).
- Operate a forklift (certification provided).
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development through U-Haul University.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
