About The Position

The Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, population 56,852 is located along Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line, 23 miles from downtown Chicago and five miles north of O’Hare International Airport. The Village’s Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Customer Service Representative. Someone who models customer service best practices that include offering friendly, courteous and efficient service in the delivery of a high quality customer experience. This position participates in the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department’s Customer Service Division; has considerable contact with the general public; provides counter service and general office support; answers Village’s main telephone line and routes calls to appropriate individuals and/or departments, or provides information and assistance; responds to verbal and written inquiries and correspondence; sorts incoming mail and processes outgoing mail for all departments; processes payments for utilities, citations, municipal taxes, and miscellaneous receivables; balances cash drawers and prepares bank deposits, reviews and approves revenue collections batches for all departments; enters escrow payments; performs miscellaneous billings; processes bills for payment; issues real estate transfer stamps; responds to FOIA requests; tracks tax submittmits; performs data entry and electronic filing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • At least 1 year of direct customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities
