Customer Service Representative - part-time Spay/Neuter Services

About The Position

We're looking for a team player to deliver excellent customer service in a personable, friendly manner to our adopters and clients who visit our Spay/Neuter Services at the Central California SPCA. This position is a part-time position, 20-25 hours/week, and is a temp-to-hire role. The schedule is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential for some half days on Mondays and Fridays if needed. The pay rate is $17.50/hour.

Requirements

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people
  • At least 6 months prior customer service experience answering phones and money handling experience
  • High comfort level with computers specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft products

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage client appointments using practice management software
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and client documentation
  • Monitor and track inventory, ensuring timely updates in the system
  • Manage the full client visit process, including check-in, service coordination, and discharge for surgical and vaccination appointments
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a friendly, professional, and compassionate approach
  • Communicate clearly with clients and relay important information to veterinarians and management
  • Educate clients on responsible pet ownership, animal care, and available services
  • Accurately process cash and credit card transactions
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the facility, including reception, exam rooms, and common areas
  • Keep workstations clean and organized at all times
  • Stay informed on services, programs, and promotions to better assist clients
  • Promote services, programs, and donation opportunities in alignment with organizational policies
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and disease control protocols
  • Perform general facility upkeep and support daily operations as needed
