About The Position

Utilizes excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills in daily contact with customers. The Customer Service Representative will be responsible for contacting assigned customers, selling products, suggesting substitutions for out-of-stock items, and promoting sales opportunities. This role also involves answering customer calls, managing short code lists, and providing excellent customer service to Hy-Vee stores by researching questions, addressing problems, and following up in a timely manner. Additionally, the representative will educate customers on ordering technology, maintain communication with Customer Consultants, and liaise with the Purchasing and Transportation Departments regarding product needs and delivery schedules. Participation in sales meetings is also required.

Requirements

  • Excellent telephone etiquette, friendly disposition, and verbal communication skills presenting a positive representation of PDI to inside and outside customers requiring excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle objectives, research and resolve problems, which requires strong organizational, attention to detail and follow through skills.
  • Must be willing to go the extra mile in accommodating the customers in a friendly, helpful manner.
  • Good computer, order entry, 10-key, office and math skills.
  • High school education
  • 1-3 years’ experience in sales or related area of products preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
  • Contacts assigned customers and sells products by scheduled time.
  • Reviews orders and suggests substitutions for out-of-stock products.
  • Verifies orders for accuracy, checks ship date, price and issues credits as needed.
  • Promotes sales of click-n-send and holiday items, directors meeting deals and other sales opportunities.
  • Answers “immediate customer service” and “hot line” calls.
  • Sells and manages short code list daily.
  • Performs excellent customer service to the Hy-Vee stores including but not limited to; researches customer’s questions and concerns, addresses problems and follows up with customer in a timely manner.
  • Educates customers on technology available to assist in ordering (Ivoice, direct connect, click-n-send).
  • Maintains communication with Customer Consultants and provides assistance as needed.
  • Communicates with Purchasing Department on new products and other customer needs.
  • Communicates with Transportation Department on special drops for unscheduled deliveries and holiday delivery schedule changes.
  • Participates in weekly and departmental sales meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
