About The Position

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for maintaining, growing, and servicing primarily existing, and occasionally new, accounts in an assigned territory. This position responds to customer inquiries in a timely manner while treating customers courteously and discusses material and processing requirements with customers and suggests value-added options/solutions based upon customer requirements, including applicable types, grades, sizes, tolerances, processing possibilities, packaging and delivery. The Representative also identifies materials available or soon to be available to meet customer order specifications based on product requirements and potential profitability and suggests possible substitutions/alternatives when material or service requested is not available. This position proactively identifies customer needs and advises customers of potential issues with orders, including delivery set-backs, material shortages, credit or others, resolves customer complaints and claims by partnering with the appropriate parties internally, and elicits feedback from customers regarding products, services, pricing, overall performance and status of open quotes to monitor customer satisfaction. The Representative works closely with the Production Planning, Materials Management, Outside Sales, Sales Management, and other departments as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or related sales experience
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Skilled at customer service and sales
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal

  • Knowledge of steel industry and product knowledge a plus
