About The Position

Homes Alive Pets is a unique pet store focused on providing a high standard of pet care and creating community hubs. They emphasize a brand-agnostic, knowledge-driven approach, prioritizing customer and pet needs over sales quotas. Their mission is to add value to every life, including guests, employees, brand representatives, vendors, and communities, both qualitatively by recognizing the importance of each life and quantitatively through fair pricing and quality products. This role is the first point of contact for customers, ensuring a positive shopping experience by operating cash registers, providing product information, and maintaining a clean work environment. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and people skills, a willingness to learn customer service, and a passion for pets. Successful candidates will undergo approximately one week of paid training in Calgary or Edmonton prior to the store's opening, with accommodations provided.

Responsibilities

  • Serve and learn the immediate needs of customers, offering honest and sincere advice, and welcoming them to the Homes Alive community culture.
  • Operate cash registers and accurately handle cash.
  • Maintain stock on the shelves, communicate product details for specific sections (e.g., price tags, sales signs), and clean and face products and shelves.
  • Self-initiate service to co-workers and leaders to assist with projects or tasks, fostering a culture of "servantship."
  • Complete routine tasks specified in checklists and delegated by leaders, following proper system procedures for efficiency, effective communication, and inventory accuracy.
  • Take initiative in learning and developing skills or knowledge within Homes Alive to become a servant leader.
  • Help customers find supplies for their pets.
  • Provide information about pet care and nutrition.
  • Assist customers at the cash register.
  • Ensure the store is clean and presentable.
  • Ensure inventory on the shelves is full and well-organized.
  • Interact with pets and hand out treats.
