About The Position

Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We are seeking a compassionate Customer Service Representative to serve as the first point of contact for the individuals that receive our services. This role is part-time and involves greeting and assisting customers in a medical setting, answering multi-phone lines, receiving payments, reviewing accounts, and performing general office support tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of customer service experience
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public
• Ability to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
• Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required

Nice To Haves

• Five or more years of customer service experience in a medical or related setting preferred
• Experience with centralized scheduling preferred
• Experience entering information in databases preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
• Ability to use an electronic health record system preferred

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists customers in a medical setting
• Answers multi-phone lines
• Receives payments and reviews accounts
• Performs general office support tasks (e.g. data entry, filing, copying)
• Creates and updates Excel spreadsheets
• Enters/keys information into databases
• Schedules appointments using an electronic health record system
• Performs other work as required
