About The Position

This role involves customer interaction, processing transactions, maintaining the store, and cross-training in other associate roles. The trainee will learn to handle money, engage customers, maintain store appearance, and assist with merchandise processing. The position also includes learning opening and closing procedures and making announcements. A key aspect is promoting Goodwill's job training and education initiatives through customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures.
  • Process register transactions, handle money, and count down a drawer.
  • Ask every customer for a Round-Up donation and achieve a 40% Round-Up transaction average monthly.
  • Engage customers successfully using specific steps (greeting, focusing, maintaining store appearance, walking/talking/showing, thanking, listening/responding, engaging at register, managing lines).
  • Use good phone etiquette and answer within 3 rings.
  • Provide short, clear, timely announcements.
  • Receive cross-training as Donation-Utility Associate and Barcoder.
  • Train to complete opening and closing procedures.
  • Stock and maintain the sales floor with newly processed merchandise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sales floor by recovering standards through sizing merchandise and organizing wares and furniture.
  • Maintain the sales floor by recovering the sales floor and dressing rooms.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods via merchandise type, markings, or by asking for assistance.
  • Utilize systems, including phones and paging systems, and make regularly scheduled announcements.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the store in a neat, clean, and orderly manner (includes vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, washing windows, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times.
  • Wear company-issued uniform.
  • Attend work regularly.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
