About The Position

The Olen Corporation and Area Aggregates, a leading construction aggregates producer in the Midwest with over 50 years of experience, is seeking a Customer Service and Relations Representative. This role is responsible for the sales and marketing of construction aggregates in a designated market area, working closely with the VP of Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, and the Admin team to ensure market coverage and growth. The representative will maintain positive customer relationships, assist customers with material selection, and communicate with operations regarding material availability and special product needs. The ideal candidate will have a professional demeanor and some background in construction or aggregates, looking to grow their career and make an impact. This role is not eligible for commission.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business/marketing, construction management, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years sales experience (aggregates industry or related field preferred but not required) in larger, complex market areas/territories.
  • Ability to travel, primarily day trips with some overnight as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and how they are used.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication abilities in order to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Reliability – Capable of working independently and in a team environment when required; Self-starter with excellent planning and administration skills; excellent time management skills; valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required.
  • Compliance with best practices, and strict compliance with the Company’s Ethics policy and Code of Conduct.
  • Knowledge regarding pricing strategies, sales forecasting, and ability to achieve objectives/key performance indicators (DSO, profit, ASP, volume, customer service, prospecting for new business, etc.).
  • Assists in preparing timely and accurate reports, data and forecasts.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Compliance with the Company’s Safe Driver Policy; adhere to safety regulations (state, federal, company) always.

Responsibilities

  • Call on and develop relationships with construction aggregates buyers in the market area to meet their aggregate needs while achieving annual sales goals regarding sales volume, price, and revenue.
  • Effectively administer and communicate quotations, sales reports, expense accounts, and any other sales data necessary to meet expectations.
  • Prospect and develop new customers, increasing the company’s market share.
  • Assist the sales team in developing the annual sales plan.
  • Provide frequent personal contact with key customers to maintain maximum market coverage, growth, and profitability while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Effectively communicate with operations team members to ensure plants are meeting customer needs and that proper inventory levels, particularly for key products, are sufficiently maintained.
  • Work closely with the admin team regarding new accounts and accounts receivable.
  • Maintain contact with operations regarding schedules, inventories, and specialty product needs.
