About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Customer Order Engineering Manager. The role involves leading the Engineered to Order (ETO) or Customer Order Engineering (COE) activities for the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) product line. This includes participating in engineering electrical/mechanical designs, managing and providing direction and review to other Engineers/ Designers, and collaborating with direct Customers/Field Sales. The position will interface with other departments including manufacturing, supply chain, operational excellence (OPEX), and quality. This role will also lead engineering standards development for repeat Custom Order Engineering (COE) Automatic Transfer Switch designs to reduce variability in manufacturing builds and support VAVE/Cost out activities and design related process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in 3D Modeling/design for sheet metal, copper and assemblies fundamentals
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering for Automatic Transfer Switches.
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Eaton's Arden, NC facility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead/Manage a team that develops a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provide sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser’s equipment application.
  • Demonstrate Eaton Leadership Model behaviors to mentor team members. Foster growth and development of team through talent development.
  • Consults with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
  • Coordinates mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
  • Advises ETO/COE, Manufacturing and Purchasing (as needed) in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser’s requirements.
  • Consults with the Quality Department in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required.
  • Completes and manages small/large projects to completion in meeting deadlines with little or no supervision.
  • Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project.
  • Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.
  • Possesses excellent communication and presentation skills. Possesses strong computer skills and proficiency with AutoCad/Inventor and other Engineering/Business software applications.
  • Interfaces daily with remote Engineering locations including Jaurez, MX and Pune, IN in the processing of customer orders. Manages the activities of various engineering resources in these locations.
