About The Position

The Customer Engagement Specialist II supports the planning, coordination, and execution of high-visibility customer visits, internal engagements, and strategic experiences across the organization. This role ensures consistent, efficient, and policy-aligned execution of customer engagements, including U.S. Government, DoW, civil space, industry partners, suppliers, and VIP stakeholders. You will work closely with Security, Operations, Facilities, SBUs/SCUs, Program teams, and MarCom to deliver polished, compliant, high-value engagements that strengthen customer relationships and reinforce SMS brand and mission objectives. This position serves as a core contributor to a CE program intentionally designed for two dedicated team members, providing critical coverage amid year-over-year growth in visit volume. The Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit, consists of Washington DC Operations, Marketing & Communications and Strategic Development. The StratOps team promotes and elevates the business within our markets, works with customers and industry to influence and drive growth and facilitate collaboration across the business enterprise to increase opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in event management, customer engagement, logistics operations, protocol, project coordination, or similar.
  • Excellent customer relations and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain professionalism in high-visibility, time-sensitive environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • High attention to detail; ability to anticipate issues and act decisively.
  • Excellent collaboration skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
  • General business acumen and intellectual curiosity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook calendaring, SharePoint, and Smartsheet.
  • The applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Nice To Haves

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Familiarity with Adobe tools (Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus.
  • Experience with Cvent or visitor management systems is beneficial.
