About The Position

We are looking for a Customer Business Manager, Animal Contract Manufacturing to serve as the primary relationship owner for strategic contract manufacturing customers and drive long-term account growth, retention, and customer satisfaction. This role serves as the primary point of contact for assigned contract manufacturing customers, building trusted partnerships and ensuring a best-in-class customer experience. Working closely with Operations, Planning, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Commercialization, and Customer Service teams, you will advocate for customer needs, proactively resolve challenges, identify growth opportunities, and strengthen long-term business relationships. The ideal candidate combines strong relationship management skills with commercial acumen and thrives in a collaborative environment where customer success, operational excellence, and business growth intersect. This is a high-impact role with direct influence on customer retention, account growth, customer satisfaction, and long-term business success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned customer accounts
  • Develop trusted partnerships with key customer stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Conduct regular business reviews and strategic account planning sessions
  • Act as the customer's advocate within FoodScience while balancing company objectives and priorities
  • Maintain high levels of customer engagement, satisfaction, and retention
  • Establish and manage customer account tiers to ensure resources and engagement efforts align with strategic priorities
  • Identify opportunities for account growth, product expansion, and additional revenue streams
  • Partner with customers to understand future business objectives, product needs, and growth opportunities
  • Develop strategic account growth plans for key customers
  • Support customer retention initiatives, contract renewals, and long-term partnership development
  • Monitor account performance against revenue and growth objectives
  • Proactively identify and address customer concerns before they become larger issues
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to support customer success and issue resolution
  • Lead discussions regarding forecasts, demand planning, inventory requirements, and future business opportunities
  • Provide leadership visibility and escalation support for strategic customer accounts
  • Maintain visibility into customer pipelines, forecasts, and future opportunities
  • Support pricing discussions, business reviews, and commercial negotiations
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional capabilities, services, and product offerings
  • Partner with Business Development teams to ensure successful customer onboarding and transition into long-term account management
  • Support customer-specific business initiatives that strengthen partnership value
  • Partner closely with Operations, Planning, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Commercialization, Customer Service, and Sales Coordination teams
  • Ensure customer priorities, concerns, and opportunities are effectively communicated throughout the organization
  • Participate in customer-specific action plans and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor account health, service levels, customer feedback, and overall customer experience
  • Drive alignment between customer expectations and operational execution
  • Develop a deep understanding of assigned account/prospect business models related to our target categories.
  • Co-Develop customer business plans with Director of Sales to achieve annual sales and profit targets as well as manage customer funding within agreed budgets.
  • Oversee the spend of accrual funds in order to drive growth.
  • Work a team with customer care representatives assigned to support customer and sales activities to deliver agreed objectives.
  • Maintain on-going communication with assigned customer or new customers as needed to achieve agreed upon objectives including service level, sales growth, and margin requirements by customer.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and business meetings, virtually (or with overnight travel as allowed by FSC) in order to serve the assigned customers or secure new customers.
  • Co-Develop customized sales presentations with Marketing in order to sell all products, brands and customers as assigned.
  • Maintain computerized customer sales records within company guidelines.
  • Complete company records as required including expense reports, sales forecasts, customer plans, follow-up sales documents, and other documents required as part of the job duties.
