About The Position

Customer Assistants help make customers feel valued by providing thoughtful, friendly and helpful service. They work across the store wherever needed, including filling shelves, picking orders, serving customers and selling products. The role uses digital tools to support effective work and improve the customer experience. It also involves organising and moving stock, keeping shelves clean, tidy and well-presented, and manoeuvring often-heavy loads to the correct store locations. Customer Assistants build knowledge of products, services and promotions so they can make helpful recommendations. The role is based in a store environment that can be fast-paced, physical and high-energy. Store teams are particularly busy during the festive season. The company has both permanent and fixed-term vacancies and advises applicants to check the contract type specified for the role. Applicants must be above the school-leaver age in their country and eligible to work in the UK. Sainsbury’s describes itself as an inclusive retailer and offers colleague development opportunities, including mentorship, training and career progression pathways, as well as support for reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process.
