Micron Technology is seeking a Customer and System Enablement Engineer to drive early system bring-up, debug, and enablement activities. This role involves direct collaboration with external customers and partners, providing technical support, and performing system-level failure analysis. The engineer will also implement system and memory characterization, develop tools and automation, and contribute to engineering documentation. The position requires working with diverse teams to ensure customer readiness and support customer lab engagements.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with computer hardware and systems, including x86 and/or ARM platforms, Intel/AMD ecosystems, DRAM, and memory modules including hands-on experience with system bring-up, BIOS/UEFI interaction, and low-level system debugging!
  • Strong understanding of lab and debug equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, system boards, processors, and related tools!
  • Experience developing and using engineering-level software and scripts, including Python, Linux, UEFI shell, SQL, C, and/or C++.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate coding, debugging, analysis, or documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3–5+ years of demonstrated experience in a relevant systems, validation, enablement, or development role.

Nice To Haves

  • Validation and enablement experience using computer systems for debugging and testing at the system level.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer system architecture, memory subsystems, and DRAM operation.
  • Experience working directly with customers in lab environments, supporting bring-up, debug, and qualification activities.
  • Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and produce clear technical documentation with attention to detail.
  • Experience developing internal tools or frameworks that improve team efficiency, visibility, or scalability.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer or partner sites as needed.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex technical problems and enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Driving early system bring-up activities, including power-on, BIOS/UEFI enablement, and memory initialization on new platforms.
  • Triage, debug, and root-cause system, memory, and BIOS-related failures observed during development, validation, and customer engagements.
  • Developing, refining, and maintaining system-level tools, scripts, and workflows to improve enablement efficiency, debugging, and data collection.
  • Designing structured experiments and rollout plans to support system characterization, margin analysis, and large-scale data collection.
  • Employing modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude Code) to accelerate tool development, test automation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Analyzing test data and system behavior to characterize performance, reliability, and margin across platforms, configurations, and workloads.
  • Presenting technical data, findings, and recommendations to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Working with a diverse group of engineers, technicians, and project managers to establish capability for initial qualification and customer readiness.
  • Collaborating with teams across Micron, including business groups, application engineering, DRAM product engineering, validation, and customer-facing organizations.
  • Direct collaboration with external System Enablers and customers (Intel, AMD, ARM, ODMs, OEMs, etc.) during system bring-up, debug, and enablement phases.
  • Liaison and technical support provider for Micron internal engineering labs, validation teams, and customer lab environments.
  • Perform system-level failure analysis (FA) and root cause analysis across joint labs and internal validation environments.
  • Implement system and memory characterization activities, including margin testing, performance analysis, and platform comparisons.
  • Develop and maintain system tools, automation, and dashboards to improve visibility, repeatability, and efficiency of early enablement activities.
  • Contribute to engineering documentation, training materials, and best-practice guides for internal teams and customers.
  • Support customer lab engagements, including onsite or remote debug, bring-up assistance, and technical reviews as needed.
