About The Position

Performs various cleaning tasks to provide all staff, students, and visitors a safe and clean environment by maintaining standards of cleanliness, sanitation and freedom from hazards in building and grounds. This position description indicates in general the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requirements

High School Diploma preferred.
Six months of related experience is preferred.
CPR/First Responder Certification preferred.
Valid state driver's license.
Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.
Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets/HASMAT.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively in the Navajo and English language.
Ability to safely use cleaning products and safely operate cleaning equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Ability to work as a team member in a structured working environment.

Responsibilities

Sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs, waxes, and dusts floors.
Cleans, disinfects, and sanitizes classrooms, chalkboards, buildings, hotel rooms, and offices.
Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and scrubs walls; restocks restroom supplies; washes windows; dusts, cleans and vacuums furniture, fixtures doors and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies.
Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal.
Reports malfunction of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, and/or damages to room and hall furnishings to supervisor.
Locks and unlocks doors as directed.
Moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required.
Operates and maintains electric floor machines, snow blowers, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing equipment and upholstery shampooing equipment.
Cleans, refinishes and maintains a variety of floor coverings.
Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.
