About The Position

The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking Campus Aides to join our Elementary School for the 2026-2027 School Year. This role involves ensuring student safety and orderliness throughout the school day, including during arrival, dismissal, class transitions, meals, and recess. The Campus Aide will also assist with various administrative and maintenance tasks to support school operations and maintain a secure and clean environment.

Requirements

Minimum of one year working with children or youth-serving organization.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports.
Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Highly organized and motivated, self-starter and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Performs crossing guard duties as necessary.
Monitors students at arrival and dismissal times.
Monitors student movements during class transitions to ensure swift, safe, and efficient movement to maximize instructional time.
Issues late passes.
Monitors student behavior in the cafeteria during meals.
Maintains a system for the orderly disposal of food waste and ensures the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
Circulates among the tables during the mealtime to be available to children who need help or to resolve any minor problems that arise.
Monitors students during recess to ensure that students are safe, interact with one another appropriately, and are following all school rules.
Informs assigned teacher or Dean of any serious infractions of discipline rules by students.
Works with school personnel to assist with answering phones.
Works with school personnel to ensure that school mailings are prepared professionally and are sent in a timely fashion.
Works with school personnel to ensure that students board the bus in a timely and orderly manner.
Works with school personnel to welcome and document visitors.
Provides general maintenance as needed.
Ensures school cleanliness and orderliness.
Assists school and custodial staff with spills and other messes as needed.
Provides building security as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
