Requirements

  • Must display tact, respect, courtesy, and patience with residents and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance in interactions with residents, family members, visitors, coworkers, supervisors, and others.
  • Be able to work independently or under limited supervision to complete tasks promptly, effectively, and efficiently within assigned schedules and according to established standards.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must possess honesty and integrity, be even-tempered, and display good work habits.
  • Possess basic knowledge in the use of laundry cleaning equipment.
  • At least six months’ of related work experience at a retirement community, health care center, nursing home, or residential complex.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ongoing safety training, training and seminars related to Environmental Services department tasks are highly recommended, as well as health care center in-service training regarding working with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine, repetitive laundry cleaning tasks to include sorting, washing, drying, pressing table linen and napkins, and distributing finished products.
  • Documents the number of loads of laundry processed daily.
  • Marks laundry for proper identification.
  • Cleans Pressing Machine.
  • Cleans laundry barrels after each pick-up.
  • Vacuums and blows out dryer each shift.
  • Sweeps and mops floors.
  • Replaces chemicals for washers and refills paper towel and hand soap dispensers as needed.
  • Promptly reports equipment malfunctions or other mechanical or safety concerns to Supervisor.
  • Keeps laundry room and storage rooms clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Promptly turns in all articles or items found in clothing to Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
