About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned school buildings and grounds; performs related duties as required. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Custodian will perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and restroom cleaning. They may also be responsible for minor repairs and ensuring that all cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stored.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the district.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a school or institutional setting.
Knowledge of floor care techniques.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
Vacuums rugs and carpets.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empties trash and recycling receptacles.
Dusts furniture, blinds, and equipment.
Washes windows and walls.
Performs minor repairs such as tightening screws, replacing light bulbs, and unclogging drains.
Reports any major maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.
Ensures that cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
