The Position: We are recruiting for a limited services Substitute that provides a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment for children. In this role, the Substitute will be responsible for assisting in the assigned classroom with planning and implementing all duties related to the classroom, children and parents as stated in the performance standards and on-site program review instrument. Substitute may also be asked to work in the Nutrition Dept if needed to provide meals. This will be an on-call position. The substitute will be scheduled to work in the absence of the Teacher or Teacher Assistant.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required for classroom substitutes.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • CDA/TCC is preferred for classroom substitutes.
  • Some course work in Early Childhood Education is preferred for classroom substitutes.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred for food service and custodial service substitutes.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the assigned classroom with planning and implementing all duties related to the classroom, children and parents as stated in the performance standards and on-site program review instrument.
  • May also be asked to work in the Nutrition Dept if needed to provide meals.
  • Assisting in the classroom or center as directed by the Center Coordinator/Lead Teacher.
  • Classroom responsibilities, food service responsibilities, and/or custodial responsibilities as assigned by the Center Coordinator/Lead Teacher.
  • Follow the established policy for reporting suspected child abuse.
  • Understand, respect and maintain confidential information regarding children, families, and program.
  • Be courteous and receptive to all Head Start staff, parents, and children.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
  • All other duties assigned.
