About The Position

The 2nd Shift Custodian performs general cleaning in school buildings and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors, and others as necessary. This role involves ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the building, performing various cleaning tasks, and assisting with special events and programs.

Requirements

Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor.
Ability to coordinate work with principal and others.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance, or repair problems.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others.
Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance is desirable.
Possession of a [State] Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

Checks and secures building at the end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas according to school district standards.
Sweeps and mops floors.
Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.
Cleans woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
Removes graffiti and cleans glass areas.
Replaces light bulbs.
Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables, and equipment in meeting and functional rooms.
Clears snow from entrances and walks, and spreads sand and ice melting chemicals.
Delivers supplies and materials to classrooms, bathrooms, and other areas.
Empties wastebaskets, removes trash, and assists in the recycling program.
Performs general cleaning, particularly during school vacations.
Assists parents and other visitors with special events and programs.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
