About The Position

Under the direction of the Building Supervisor, the Custodian is responsible for keeping school premises clean and orderly. Work areas include classrooms, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, common areas, corridors, hallways, stairways, and entryways. The position also involves maintaining outdoor areas and helping with school activities and other tasks as assigned.

This is a full-time, 12-month position working eight hours per day, Monday through Friday, on the third shift. The employee must work in the building/on site. The stated pay range is $20.65 to $21.85 per hour, based on step and license/position. The start date is ASAP.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Maintain regular attendance and complete assigned workdays.
• Know standard cleaning methods and procedures.
• Be able to use cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.
• Be able to occasionally to frequently lift, pull, push, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to frequently to constantly lift, pull, push, and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Work physically in the building/on site.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain designated areas by dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Use cleaning equipment, including vacuums, auto scrubbers, and floor restoration equipment, safely and maintain it properly.
• Assist the Building Supervisor with tasks such as minor repairs, setting up school events and activities, and inventory management.
• Care for outdoor areas through landscaping, trash removal, and snow removal as directed by the Building Supervisor.
• Keep the building exterior presentable and safe for use.
• Assist with cleaning during and after the lunch program.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Promptly identify and report maintenance or safety issues to the Building Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Supervisor.
