About The Position

Performs general cleaning and custodial work in and about Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) buildings.

Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED or completed a training program in janitorial work.
• Basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
• Basic English sufficient to read and understand simple directions.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
• Ability to learn custodial methods, supplies, materials, chemicals, tools and equipment.
• Ability to learn safety, sanitization and energy-conservation requirements of the Board.
• Ability to work effectively with all types of people.
• Must have a valid Driver License.
• Must have physical strength and stamina to lift/carry/move heavy objects weighing as much as 80 pounds.
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold), confined spaces and isolated areas.
• Must be able to work on slippery or uneven surfaces and on ladders and scaffolds.
• Must be at least 18 years old by the application deadline date.
• Application accepted from both citizens and non-citizens; however, due to the Immigration Reform and Control Act, only citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to U.S. will be hired.

Nice To Haves

• Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.
