About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facility in accordance with contract requirements. Duties include routine and detailed custodial work across assigned areas, including floor care, restrooms, common areas, and other facility spaces. The role also requires following work schedules and applicable safety procedures, and participating in monthly safety training.

Requirements

• Ability to provide cleaning services in a commercial, industrial, or residential environment.
• Solid work ethic.
• Demonstrated history of related cleaning experience; experience with a major institution is preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and move within the assigned work area or building for 6 to 7 hours, excluding breaks and lunch.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash receptacles in designated areas according to daily work schedules.
• Perform detailed custodial functions, including floor care and standard janitorial duties such as dusting, detailing, vacuuming, sanitizing, waxing, buffing, and stripping floors.
• Clean restrooms, common areas, windows, tables, fixtures, file cabinets, desks, dividers, partitions, elevator doors, entry doors, walls, and other surfaces.
• Clean, service, and police restrooms, dorm rooms, gyms, offices, lobbies, hallways, classrooms, and manufacturing areas according to daily work schedules.
• Stock restroom supply dispensers and ensure shelves and surfaces are clean and dry.
• Keep glass mirrors and interior and exterior doors free from smudges, stains, and discoloration.
• Understand the employee handbook, hazard communication program, bloodborne pathogen procedure, and safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in monthly safety training.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.
