About The Position

The City of Harrisonburg Public Works Department is hiring a part-time Custodian to help present a friendly image to citizens, employees, and others. The role is responsible for ensuring facilities are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and ready for public use. Primary work will be at the recently built Public Works building at 320 E. Mosby Road, with potential assignments at other City facilities as needed. The position offers a preferred hiring rate of $16.44 per hour; the exact salary depends on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and is subject to City policy. This is a part-time position with no benefits. Anticipated hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; the exact schedule depends on the candidate's availability and business needs. Successful applicants must receive satisfactory results from a DMV driving record review, job-specific physical, and criminal background investigation, including VCIN fingerprinting.

Requirements

• Completion of the tenth grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Satisfactory results from a DMV driving record review, job-specific physical, and criminal background investigation, including VCIN fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize facilities and ensure they are ready for use by the public.
