About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and attractive school environment. The Custodian will maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas, by cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting surfaces, floors, and fixtures. This role also involves trash removal, restocking supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel. The Custodian may also be involved in minor repairs and assisting with event setups and breakdowns as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including lifting, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to complete the entire three (3) year work history in the 'Experience and Credentials' section of the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
  • Required documents for the job must be attached at the time of application.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of assigned areas, including floors, walls, windows, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, ensuring they are well-stocked with supplies.
  • Empty trash receptacles and remove refuse to designated disposal areas.
  • Restock custodial supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down facilities for school events and activities.
  • Maintain custodial equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
  • Follow all safety regulations and procedures, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
