This is an entry-level position suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses. The Custodian role in Facilities Management involves sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors, vacuuming and spot cleaning carpets, removing trash, and removing water from walkways and driveways. The position requires the ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly, a full range of body movement, and the ability to speak, read, and write in English. A grammar school education is sufficient, and no prior work experience is necessary. Employees must exemplify the University Honor Code, including dress and grooming principles. Preference is given to students who can work during academic breaks. The approximate starting hourly rate is $14.00 - $16.00, with the final wage determined by education and experience. All applicants must be available for an on-site interview at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, HI.
