The purpose of this Custodian position is to perform the custodial maintenance of County buildings to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors. The role involves general custodial maintenance of assigned County buildings and facilities, including walkways, stairways, elevators, offices, kitchen areas, lobby areas, courtrooms, judge chambers, and restrooms. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, kitchen areas, polishing water fountains, cleaning windows and glass surfaces, baseboards, dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning window blinds, removing trash, sweeping and mopping floors, scrubbing/polishing floors, stripping and waxing floors, and vacuuming/spot cleaning/shampooing carpets. The position also involves cleaning porches and walkways, stocking restrooms, checking and replacing light bulbs, performing minor repairs, maintaining security of locked doors and windows, and potentially overseeing inmate workers. The Custodian must comply with division policies, procedures, and standards of cleanliness, quality, and safety, maintain assigned vehicles and equipment, provide coverage for special meetings, request necessary supplies, respond to inquiries, and attend training. All County employees are considered public servants and may be required to work during emergencies.
