About The Position

The Custodial Staff member is responsible for maintaining an environmentally safe, secure, and clean building that is conducive to learning. The role includes routine cleaning and building upkeep, monitoring security and safety, handling cleaning chemicals and equipment properly, preparing facilities for school events, and assisting with snow removal when required.

Responsibilities

• Follow all laws, regulations, rules, and procedures, and comply with instructions or directives from supervisors.
• Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after operating hours.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Properly handle chemicals, including cleaning solutions, floor-finishing chemicals, and solvents.
• Assist with stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing floors.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors as needed or in a timely manner.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for meetings, assemblies, and other school events.
• Clean and polish high-profile areas such as drinking fountains, counters, and areas used to prepare or store food.
• Dust high-traffic and high-visibility areas, including offices, teachers’ desks, and tables; monitor corners for cobwebs and dead insects.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks, using common sense.
• Assist with snow removal when required.
