About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented custodian to help maintain clean, functional facilities and a safe, welcoming environment on Kauai. The role includes routine cleaning, sanitizing, restroom care, replenishing supplies, and waste and recycling management. The custodian may also set up or break down furniture for events and secure areas after cleaning. The position requires working independently or as part of a team, reporting maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor, and performing additional tasks assigned by an H.B.M. supervisor. The stated hourly pay rate is $16.00.

Requirements

• Pass a prescreen check.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Good communication in English and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to perform tasks in any type of weather.
• Physical ability to carry, lift, push, and pull 25 to 50 pounds, and to stretch, kneel, bend, crawl, climb, and press.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience.
• Valid Hawaii Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust facility areas.
• Sanitize surfaces and clean restrooms.
• Replenish supplies.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling processes.
• Set up or break down furniture for events as needed.
• Ensure areas are secure after cleaning.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by an H.B.M. supervisor.
