About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain clean, functional facilities and a safe, welcoming environment on Kauai. The role includes routine cleaning and sanitizing, restroom upkeep, supply replenishment, waste disposal and recycling, and setting up or breaking down furniture for events. Custodians may also ensure areas are secure after cleaning and report maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor. The position may include additional tasks assigned by an H.B.M. supervisor.

Requirements

• Pass a prescreen check.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Good communication in English and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to perform tasks in any type of weather.
• Physical ability to carry, lift, push, and pull 25 to 50 pounds, and to stretch, kneel, bend, crawl, climb, and press.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred; training is available.
• Valid Hawaii Driver's License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust facility areas.
• Sanitize surfaces and clean restrooms.
• Replenish supplies.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling processes.
• Set up or break down furniture for events as needed.
• Ensure areas are secure after cleaning.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by an H.B.M. supervisor.
