About The Position

The City of Cottage Grove is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Seasonal Custodian to support the cleanliness and daily operations of the Cottage Grove Ice Arena. The Custodian is responsible for performing routine custodial duties to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and presentable for guests, staff, and arena users. This position works primarily independently under the direction of the Facility Services Manager or Recreation and Ice Arena Supervisor. All weekday work must be completed by 3:00 p.m. The position requires a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a flexible schedule, including availability for mornings and occasional weekends.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Be detail-oriented and committed to maintaining a clean and safe facility.
• Be able to stand, talk, and hear regularly while performing job duties.
• Be able to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Be physically able to perform all essential functions of the position under the described working conditions.
• Be self-motivated, dependable, and hardworking.

Nice To Haves

• Previous janitorial or custodial experience.
• Previous maintenance or facility operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain restrooms.
• Operate a riding floor scrubber to clean arena floors.
• Restock custodial closets and supplies.
• Wash and maintain towels and other cleaning materials.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
• Sweep floors and perform litter pickup throughout the facility.
• Clean and maintain glass surfaces.
• Assist with custodial supply inventory and inventory management.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by full-time staff.
