About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned areas to ensure a safe, sanitary, and attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes cleaning floors, walls, windows, restrooms, and other facilities, as well as emptying trash receptacles, and performing minor repairs as needed. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a school or institutional setting.
Knowledge of safety regulations related to cleaning and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning of assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility.
Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces.
Dust furniture and fixtures.
Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks as needed, such as changing light bulbs or tightening fixtures.
Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
Follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.
