About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. This role involves performing janitorial duties, managing hazardous waste responsibilities, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and maintaining the daily upkeep of assigned areas. The custodian must also report incidents and hazardous conditions to their supervisor, comply with safety rules, and work collaboratively with team members. A key aspect of the role is to stop at-risk behavior of others and self, maintain a clean work area, and follow all company protocols and procedures. The position requires taking direction, responding to supervision, and communicating professionally with colleagues and customers. Additionally, the custodian may fill in during staff shortages and support shift leads in completing punch-list items, while always using proper personal protective equipment and presenting a professional appearance and conduct. Understanding customer service and satisfaction, as well as reporting systems and the environment, is also important.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • 3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • Completed all safety and task training certification.
  • May be required to be forklift certified.
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
  • Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
  • Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
  • Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stop at risk behavior of others and self
  • Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
  • Perform repetitive tasks
  • Maintain clean work area
  • Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
  • Take direction and respond to supervision
  • Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
