About The Position

The Custodian performs custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous work to keep buildings and facilities healthy, safe, and sanitary. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, or a willingness to learn them, is essential. The Custodian cares for the main building, facilities, and equipment, helping maintain the health, safety, and security of the public. The role reports to the Lead Custodian and the Custodial Supervisor.

• Ability to perform routine walking, standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Collect trash, replace garbage liners, and clean garbage receptacles as needed.
• Work between multiple locations.
• Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and horizontal surfaces as needed.
• Vacuum carpeted areas and mop tile and concrete floors as needed.
• Wash and disinfect restrooms, and restock paper and soap dispensers as needed.
• Empty restroom trash and clean mirrors, walls, and toilet partitions.
• Clean window sills and windows.
• Perform or report minor maintenance repairs and damages.
• Keep janitor closets clean, organized, and safe.
• Keep janitorial equipment clean, safe, and operable.
• Properly label, dilute, and use chemicals.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
