About The Position

Under general supervision, CSUN PPM Custodians may work independently or as part of a custodial team to provide general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, facilities, structures and adjacent areas and/or portions. This role involves cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and replenishing supplies, cleaning and maintaining campus floors, and responding to custodial/cleaning emergencies. The position also requires safeguarding assigned areas from unauthorized use and access by locking and unlocking doors and windows. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, sanitation practices, floor care, carpet care, waste and recycling procedures, and the proper use of cleaning supplies and materials
Skill in operating and maintaining powered equipment, tools, vacuums, floor-care equipment, power washers, and other custodial materials
Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments, replace lamps, check fire extinguishers, arrange furniture and equipment, and support campus events
Ability to accurately record time and projects in the PPM electronic CMMS system, identify facility repair needs during custodial rounds, and respond effectively to custodial and cleaning emergencies
Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety
Ability to operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position
