About The Position

The Custodian keeps premises of commercial, retail, airport, hospitality, healthcare, convention center/arena, or other institutional buildings clean and orderly. The role performs cleaning and maintenance duties in rooms and common areas, including floors, furnishings, fixtures, windows, and waste disposal. Other duties may be assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
No prior experience or training required.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and effectively present information in English in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, using American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements.
Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
No computer skills needed.
No certifications needed.
Must be able to regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear; frequently climb or balance; and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus are required.

Responsibilities

Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
Sweep, scrub, finish, and polish floors.
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Dust furniture and equipment.
Polish metalwork.
Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
Empty wastebaskets and empty and clean ashtrays.
Transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
